January 17, 2012: The next regular tournament will be on February 5, 2012 at the University of Winnipeg, Lockhart Hall, Room 5L24. This is a great tournament for both beginners and advanced chess players and will usually only last about 3 hours. It is open to any students from kindergarten to grade 12. Registration is the day of the tournament between 12:15pm and 12:45pm. Everybody plays at least 5 games and there are prizes for the winners in each group. September 13, 2011: The dates for the 2011-2012 regular Sunday tournaments have been finalized. Mark your calendars! Be sure to play in as many regular tournaments as you can for a better chance of winning the 2012 grand prix. This year there will be prizes every Sunday tournament for anyone who already has any grand prix points.
June 8, 2011: Congratulations to the Manitoba Provincial chess team who played very well at the 2011 Canadian Chess Challenge. Manitoba took 5th place overall as a team.
June 7, 2011: Tournament results from the May 1, 2011 regular tournament have been posted. Unofficial ratings for this tournament have been calculated. The Grand Prix standings after the regular May tournament have been updated.
March 20, 2011: The Manitoba Provincial Chess Championships for grades 1 to 4 were held today. Results and unofficial ratings have been calculated. Our Provincial chess champions for grades 1 to 4 are: Joshua Huston-Earle (grade 1) Ron Amrom (grade 2), Theo Wolchock (grade 3), and Ethan Lin (grade 4). Congratulations to all!
March 13, 2011: The Manitoba Provincial Chess Championships for grades 5 to 12 were held today. Results and unofficial ratings have been calculated. Our Provincial chess champions for grades 5 to 12 are: Alexander Iomdina (grade 5) Justin Lin (grade 6), Ryne Swift (grade 7), Michael Pang (grade 8), Leor Wasserman (grade 9), Christopher Delos Santos (grade 10), Aaron Green (grade 11), and Igal Raihman (grade 12). Congratulations to all!
